has opened up a wide variety of options for instructors at UGA.
CTL consultants are available to assist you with instructional
design and development of activities and materials that incorporate
instructional technology.
WEBCT
AND OTHER WORKSHOPS
CTL
collaborates with Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS)
to offer a series of workshops on WebCT and other applications,
such as Web page authoring tools. For more information including

CUSTOM
WORKSHOPS
CTL
consultants are available to design and deliver custom workshops
to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and teaching assistant groups.
Workshops topics may include the use of WebCT in traditional classes
or distance classes, electronic presentations for the classroom,
design and development of Web pages, and a variety of other topics.
Workshops are delivered in the CTL Classroom located in Journalism
275 or in department computer labs, if available.
PERSONAL
CONSULTATIONS
CTL
consultants can meet with you on many different topics related to
teaching with technology. Classroom Technology Specialists are available
to provide training in the use of classroom equipment; monitor technology
enhanced classrooms for proper equipment operation; coordinate the
repair and maintenance of classroom technology; and respond to calls
for assistance from classroom users. Classroom Support Staff provide
AV and instructional technology equipment recommendations and specifications,
consultation on classroom and instructional facility design and
renovation, technology systems design, budgeting, installation and
maintenance, and coordination with campus offices for classroom
and instructional facility design and renovation. Instructional
Design and Technology Specialists can help instructors determine
which instructional technology is right for instructors and for
their students. This may include electronic presentations, listservs,
Web pages and WebCT, or streaming media. Not sure you want to develop

offer a wide variety of development services and can help you determine
exactly what you need for your course.

INSTRUCTIONAL
DEVELOPMENT LAB (IDL)
The
Instructional Development Lab (IDL) is a comfortable, technologically-advanced
environment for exploring and developing instructional applications
of technology, receiving consultations, and for delivering small-group
workshops. The IDL is available for use by University of Georgia
faculty and TAs. The IDL has seven networked computers available
for use, along with several flatbed scanners, CD-ROM burners, VCRs,
and a DVD-RAM burner. A MiniDisc recorder is available as well.
Four of the seven computers, two Mac G3s and two Pentium IIIs, are
multi-purpose computers with Macromedia web-design and graphics
software, Microsoft Office, web browsers, and more. The other three
computers, an iMac, a Mac G4, and a Pentium III, are primarily for
creating and editing video, audio, and
streaming media.
The
Instructional Development Lab is open Monday through Friday from
8:00am-5:00pm. To reserve computer time in the lab, or for more
information about the equipment and services offered there, please
send an email message to: isd@uga.edu.
Consultation and use of IDL facilities are free of charge.
