Instructional Multimedia Design and Development within the Center for Teaching and Learning offers faculty and administrators at The University of Georgia, instructional design and multimedia expertise for a range of teaching, learning and related research projects.

FLYER, PORTFOLIO AND CONSULTATION

You are welcome to download and post our flyer for faculty, staff and administrators who may have an interest and need for multimedia services. Our current multimedia portfolio is available online. For a CD-ROM and DVD copy of our full portfolio or for on-site consultation please send an email to Michele Estes (mestes@uga.edu), Coordinator, Instructional Multimedia Design and Development.

DIGITAL MEDIA AND WEB SERVICES

Services typically include design and development of video, CD, DVD, and interactive online resources unique to client needs and for the purpose of instruction, and related research and program efforts. Specific examples of the tools used and products created, include:

  • Studio and remote site video production; FinalCut Pro editing and output to tape and DVD; Video streaming and webcasting using Real, QT, and .mpg standards; Podcasting; QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) object and panorama interactive environments;
  • Flash animation, Instructional modules with feedback, and Audio synchronization with slides; Tutorial development using Camtasia and Captivate;
  • Original interface and graphic design; Still and motion graphics creation using Photoshop and Fireworks;
  • Dreamweaver website creation; WebCT online materials and custom programming
  • CD/DVD disk label and jewel case insert creation; Flyer, brochure and logo creation using Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
Related CTL media services are available, including:
  • Media transfer services (one format to another) involving multiple digital and analog video and audio delivery formats such as VHS, NTSC/PAL/SECAM, DVD, CD, miniDV, and others
  • Instructional cable program delivery throughout campus and to the Athens and Oconee area communities via University Channel 15; satellite teleconference downlinks and delivery on campus via Teleconference Channel 16

ESTIMATES

Before beginning a project, a cost estimate will be provided.

  • To receive a cost estimate for an upcoming video/audio event, submit a completed estimate worksheet. You will be contacted about your request within a week, and in many cases an initial meeting will be arranged.
  • Long-term multimedia and video project estimates will be provided in the context of a discussion only to help us understand your unique needs. See requests for contact information.

FUNDING

Many services for academic, classroom-based projects with a UGA account number and course number are reduced in price and may include a fee waiver for some portion of the total cost. Funding to off-set the cost of productions may be available to faculty who can demonstrate need through application for a Learning Technologies Grant or by offering the program for delivery via University Channel 15 (opportunities are selective).
