Welcome
to Part-time Teaching
at the University of Georgia
2007 - 2008
In your role as a part-time instructor,
you are critical to the mission of the University in achieving
excellence in teaching and learning. You were asked to teach
because you bring expertise to your academic program.
However, as a part-time instructor you may have had minimal contact
with the university, especially if you are employed elsewhere,
and may feel there are areas in which you need more information
or support.
This
CD includes a variety of important resources that full-time
colleagues rely on, as well as some items that are
unique to the needs and interests of part-time faculty at UGA.
You will find information and guidance on developing a syllabus
for your course, dealing with academic honesty in the classroom,
class absences, assigning an incomplete, teaching tips, various
resources on campus to help you in your teaching, and even policies
on parking and bus routes. Also, you can hear and view reflections on teaching from award-winning UGA faculty in the Excellence in Teaching Videos section. Some resources in this CD will be more relevant than others,
but all should be useful in helping you learn more about the
University of Georgia.
We
want your experience at the University to be successful and
hope this material enhances what you are already receiving from
your department. If you have any suggestions, please do not
hesitate to contact your associate dean or other responsible
individual in your home department, or you can contact CTL
at ctl@uga.edu
