In 2001, a group of retired faculty chose to initiate an Emeriti Scholars program at the University of Georgia. The program presents opportunities for outstanding retired faculty who choose to continue their commitment and involvement in the academic life of the campus. During the 2002-2003 academic year, the eleven charter members collaborated with the Honors Program in teaching courses and seminars, lecturing at special events, and mentoring Honors students. The Institute of Higher Education, the Center for Teaching & Learning and the Teaching Academy provide endorsement for the organization of the Emeriti Scholars Program. Coordination of the program is located in CTL.

Vision: To contribute to a campus culture that recognizes and nurtures the continuing achievements and involvement of outstanding faculty and personnel who have chosen to retire from full time employment.
